We enjoyed getting together in June and created a little art piece for dad's for Father's Day. It was nice to be able to converse and catch up with everyone over painting and good snacks. Here are a few of the art pieces, not all were finished that evening but we had a great time and got a good start on the projects!

Attention all Mt. Calvary Moms...we're looking for you. Formally Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS@) is now Moms of Mt. Calvary!!!

No matter your age, no matter how many kids you have or how old they are...we want you to come and enjoy time with other moms.

Our meeting will be Monday, June 8th at 6:30pm in the Parish Hall. We'll have snacks, a craft and lots of time for discussion and fellowship. We are hoping the change in our group will allow the moms of Mt. Calvary to get to know each other better. If you have friends who have kids and would benefit from this group please invite them along as well. Email us (mtcalvarymops@yahoo.com) if you have any questions! Or feel free to give Amy or Jamie a call.

For our craft project we need you to bring a 4x6 photo of your kid(s). You can have all the kids in one photo or a seperate photo for each child, the choice is yours! We will be making a Father's Day gift (but you may want to keep it for yourself)!

Come on over and get shot! We are having a children's photoshoot playdate on Thursday. We'd love to have you join us. Each child that attends will be photographed by Jamie of JT Photography. You will also receive a 5x7 of each child or group of children (you decide) and the digital file of that photograph for your safe keeping. Of course you're always welcome to purchase additional prints. There will be plenty for the kids to do while Jamie is photographing the other children. We will be discussing the next chapter in our book "Five Star Families". Please pick up a copy of the book in the church office if you have not already done so. We will also be making a great craft that is an awesome fun and learning tool for our kids. Naomi will play with this for an hour at a time, and I can't wait for you to make your own! Please bring a child sized (or regular sized) glove (I have some extras if you don't have one) and an adult size if you'd like.

Well, it's that time of year! Time to renew our registration with MOPS International. Here's the deal. The membership fee was raised a little bit from what it was last year to $24 but if you register by May 20th you can get renewed for only $22. I know it's only $2 but in todays economy $2 is a big deal!

Come to our monthly meeting on Monday, March 9th at 6:30 pm for a discussion of chapters 5, 6 and maybe 7 of Five star families. Even if you can't make it to the meetings you can pick up a copy of the book in the church office. The books are $10 and the scrapbooks are $5. It's a really good book so I would suggest grabbing a copy, even if you can't come to the meetings regularly, or at all. We will also be making a really unique "stitched" greeting card that you can send to a long lost friend just to say I care. If you have a small cork board please bring that along. We hope to see you there and if you'd be willing to bring a snack or drink please let us know! Thanks!

Two of our little ones have a birthday this month...Sophia and Kay both turn 3! In honor of the 3 year olds, let's have a birthday celebration for them.

Where: McDonald's on 8631 Broadway...outside 410...it's on the left as you are driving north

We can play, eat an early lunch and have cake. McDonalds is fine with us bringing in cake or cupcakes. Hope to see you then!

We will be discussing chapters 5, 6, and 7 in Five Star Families. Make sure to bring your book and scrapbook. We'll also be doing a super cute valentine's day craft that will look something like this. You don't want to miss it.

Please bring $1 to the meeting and a container that will safely hold 6 eggs. We'll be using egg cartons but not the eggs. So, you'll be able to leave with a great Valentine's Day gift and 6 eggs to take home and cook or bake with. Call or email if you have any questions!

Welcome Little ones

We want to wish a warm welcome to two new little ladies!

Alondra was welcomed by her mom April, dad Alonzo and big sister Carolina!
Victoria was welcomed by her mom Amanda, dad Chris and big brother TJ!

We're so excited that these little ladies arrived safely. Moms are doing great too! Hey moms, let's pitch in and help out. Give these families a call and see what you can do to help, maybe by taking them some dinner and diapers!

We had a great time at our meeting on Monday making some stockings for the shut-ins of our church. It's always nice to be able to help other out and brighten their days a little. Thanks ladies for helping decorate these stockings...I know they will be appreciated.

Turkey Playdate

We had a great time playing in the gym at church today. Thanks moms for bringing your kids for a little Thanksgiving fun. We ran around, played catch, played outside and just had a great time being with our friends. We also created some really cool turkey hats! The kids had a good time glueing and stapling and just getting those hats ready for their cute little heads. We also made some cool stained glass windows with contact paper and tissue paper. This was a great craft even for the little kids because it was pretty easy with great results! Thanks again to everyone that came and we look forward to seeing more of you at our next playdate and meeting. Our next meeting is December 8th at 6:30pm. We'll let you know what we have planned soon!

Recipe Exchange!!!!

I hope you're having a great November so far!! Our monthly meeting will be this coming Monday the 10th at 6:30 in the Parish Hall. We're hoping the books for our next book study will arrive in time. If not...well...we can give a little intro to the book. Our other activity will be a holiday recipe exchange..and a craft that goes with the eating theme. I figure we will all be busy cooking in the next couple of months and we could all use some good new recipes!! So, bring about 8 copies of your favorite recipe (on recipe cards if you're able to...if not don't worry about it). If you're feeling VERY industrious...you could bring your favorite recipe for all of us to taste. Just a thought!!

What a fun time we had at the pumpkin patch. We're so glad that so many of you were able to join us! We had five moms and eight kids! What a great time to have some grown up conversation, let the little ones get some fresh air and enjoy a holiday "tradition"! Although the pumpkin "patch" was not a patch at all we had a great time! Well, we've got something planned to get you out of the house (if you're home all day with the kiddos) and some time to actually talk to someone your own size...and age! Adult conversation! How fun! We're going to meet at church on Thursday, October 23rd at 9:30am...I know we'd all like to still be sleeping at 9:30 but who are we kidding we'll all be up WAY before then. We're going to head over to Alamo Heights United Methodist church for their little "pumpkin farm". You all know this is NOT EVEN CLOSE to being a pumpkin farm right? Just coming from a northerner and all...sorry! Anyway, it will be a good time to get the kiddos a pumpkin to "paint" since carving a pumpkin and leaving it out in this heat is a recipe for stench. And also a time to have that coveted adult conversation and a good time for the kiddos to run off some steam and maybe *cross your fingers* sleep longer at nap time.

Please join us at church and then we'll follow each other to the church...since we all have the car seats, it's just easier to follow. Please feel free to bring along other moms and their kidlets too! Have a great week till we see you on Thursday!

Well our playdate was lots of fun! Thanks for coming Amy and Anna and for bringing the kiddos. We had 8 kids here, 7 of them are under 2 1/2 and we had one 5 year old. It was a good time, filled with snacks, sand, sharing, siblings, screaming (out of delight) and sunshine. The weather was nice so we were able to play outside and the kids really seemed to have a good time. I know that I really enjoyed some grown up conversation! Can't wait till our next playdate. Maybe we'll pick another color to go with next time!

We had our first speaker come to our meeting tonight. Diana talked with us about different learning styles. We took a quiz to find out our learning styles and then to also find out about the learning styles of our children. We also learned about some toys that would be helpful for them to play with and learn from for their learning style. We also had a toy swap and got some great "new" toys to share with our kids! Thanks for coming to our meeting we hope more of you can join us next time.

Our next MOPS@ meeting is on Monday, September 8th at 6:30pm in the Parish Hall at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in San Antonio, Texas. We are very excited about this meeting because we'll be having our first speaker! Diana from Discovery Toys is going to come and talk to us about Learning Styles and Toys that can help! We are so excited to have Diana come and share her insight with us. Along with the Discovery Toys talk we are going to have a Toy/Book swap.

Toy/Book Swap Rules!
Please bring along no more than 10 books and no more than 10 toys that are unloved, but still useable and won't be missed in your house. We will have a swap of these toys and those toys and books that are not picked by other moms for their kids to enjoy will be donated! What a great time to clean out your childs closet and share with others!

Anyone willing to bring snacks and drinks please let Jamie know! We will have a sign up sheet at the meeting for those willing to bring snacks and drinks to the next few meetings!

What is MOPS?

MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. MOPS International exists to meet the needs of every mom - urban, suburban and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single and married moms - moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs.

MOPS helps moms through relationships established in the context of local groups that provide a caring atmosphere for today's mother of young children. MOPS also encourages and supports moms through resources such as books, the MOPS website and the MOPS International Membership.
